Your therapy experience should be tailored to your unique needs and preferences. Some people prefer talk therapy, some prefer to use art or full body movement, and some prefer silence. Whatever the specific approach, therapy will help you take intentional time to check in with yourself, explore difficult topics with a trained professional, as well as finding growth and healing.

If you are using insurance, I will file a claim with them for reimbursement. Depending on your insurance, you may have a co-pay which will be collected at the time of services. If you are not using insurance, we will discuss what rate is best and you will be charged at the time of service.

The first session is really a time for us to get to know each other. We may go over intake paperwork if needed but we will spend most of our time getting a feel for each other. I will ask you questions about your goals for therapy and what you are seeking support for.

The most important part of therapy is showing up. You don’t have to bring anything or prepare anything ahead of time. Some people prefer bringing journals or lists they want to talk about and I welcome that but it is not required.

It can be hard to come to the realization that we may not be the right fit. It can be frustrating or deflating because it’s hard to find therapists and it can feel awkward talking about it. But please know, my main goal is helping you and sometimes that means finding you a therapist that might be a better fit. We will talk through it together and figure out a way forward.

I really love to get to know what works best for each client. I am always eager to learn new things or work in ways that may help a client better. My current practice frequently utilizes traditional talk therapy, walk and talk therapy at parks, expressive art strategies, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization & reprocessing).
