While the term “therapy” often evokes an image of two people talking in a cozy room with comfy seating, there are actually many different types of therapy out there. Below you’ll find several tools and approaches that I use in my therapeutic practice. You’ll also find a list of life events and mental health struggles I work with. I try to keep these lists updated but if you don’t see something you’re looking for, feel free to reach out via the contact page to inquire!

This approach focuses on empowering clients to take control of their well being. The role of the therapist is to provide clients with a safe space to explore their struggles, engage in non-judgmental support, and help facilitate their own healing. As a person-centered therapist, I will open the therapeutic space to you while also providing feedback, knowledge, and supportive listening based on your goals.

This form of therapy is based on the idea that we are impacted by and connected with the natural world. “Ecotherapy” is an umbrella term for a variety of nature based therapies. My current approach based on my office’s location includes Nature Meditation/Mindfulness, Walk and Talk therapy, and talk therapy outdoors (seated in a private, comfortable area outside).

This tool is used to help clients reprocess and overcome traumatic experiences using brief, gentle exposure to the memory while engaging in side to side eye movements (or other forms of bilateral stimulation). There is a multi-step process that involves creating coping skills to help you stay regulated, intentionally remembering past experiences, and processing through bilateral stimulation. Throughout the session, the therapist checks in with your well being, ensuring you have control over the process.

This type of therapy harnesses our ability as humans to create and imagine by using different forms of artistic expression. Often people find themselves struggling to express their experiences verbally and have found that other forms of expression can be beneficial. In my current practice, I utilize visual arts and writing as alternative expressive strategies. I hope, in the future, to be able to provide additional creative approaches so keep an eye out on this section!
